Well it's been crazy the past few days!  We had to deal with Hurricane Sandy.  I was lucky enough to not have lost power (for long) or had any real damage around my house (surprising, cause I thought a few trees would have been goners)

I was lucky to be able to work in the igloo this weekend, and I was busy!  So I got to work on some items to be sold at a few craft fairs in November...

round 2 of the post it note holders.  I made 8 more (I have a total of 12 done) and I varied them with different ribbons/brads that coordinate with the paper.

Some have pens, some don't

then I got started on some gift tags.  These were a lot of cutting-because I didn't plan the stamping out better lol.  I made 6 sets of these.

and here they are packaged up.  I think I want a topper for them, but I have to think about that.  This shows the front and back...

A friend of mine posted these gift card holders she worked on, and  I just had to make some too!  Oh my goodness they come together so quickly!!!  I made 10-but I have to wait for my ribbon to arrive today to finish the others LOL

and here is the inside of the gift card holder.  I lined the inside so I can hide the ribbon from behind, and give the gifter a place to write a message.

I will be working on more things....

I have a few other projects in the works... :)

Halloween Candles

I've been busy here and there in the Igloo...  some of the things I've been working on I've finished.  These were quick and easy!

I saw these black Halloween candles at my local Giant, and I just knew what I had to do with them LOL!  the fact that they were 10 for $10 helped.  And they take replaceable batteries...even better.

I cut some Stampin up Howlstooth and Scarringbone DSP and wrapped it around the candle.  I punched out some bats out of black cardstock.  Then I inked them with some white craft ink.  I attached them with some dimensionals and VoilĂ !

I made these for a few co-workers who appreciate my projects for their cubicles :)

Triple Stamping....Sympathy

Last night I made another sympathy card.  I love the triple stamping effect, and this time I made it with the Stampin up Daydream Medallions.  I went with a colour combo of soft suede, cherry cobbler and pool party.

this is what was used:
stamp set: Daydream medallions, teeny tiny wishes (sentiment)

card stock: Soft suede, whisper white, cherry cobbler co'ordinations (available in the Holiday Mini)

ink: Soft Suede, Cherry Cobbler, Pool Party

Punch: Word Window, Modern label

I made 2, since they are so easy and quick.  The other one has no sentiment-yet, but it'll be ready for one when I need another quick card :)

another loss...

I love last minute orders...but sad when they involve sympathy cards.  One of my managers asked me to make a sympathy card for a co-worker who lost their mom on Monday.  I didn't really know her, but I felt sad at the same time.

card stock: basic gray, whisper white
ink: sahara sand (inked on embossed card stock), lucky limeade, basic gray, versamark
ribbon: basic gray
embellishments: tangerine tango embossing powder, vintage wallpaper embossing folder, ticket corner punch

I do like the embossed features.  The orange part of the flowers are embossed...as well as the inside sentiment.  I usually leave the insides blank on my cards, but the sentiment was appropriate.

very crafty weekend!

what a busy weekend!!  I was at a Super Saturday Stamping event with my upline and some friends.  I was helping out, but I also got to make the 6 projects.  Only one managed to be completely finished.  Everything else is almost done lol

I love this Stampin up! fabric memo board!! it's easy to do, and looks great!

SU fabric
paper: more mustard, midnight muse, primrose petals, early espresso
dsp: newspaper print, natural composition specialty
ink: more mustard, early espresso

punch: 1 1/4 and 1 3/4 scallop punches, scallop punch from bitty shapes punch pack, elegant butterfly
die:delicate doilies sizzlet
button: vintage faceted designer buttons
linen thread, midnight muse 3/8 stitched satin ribbon
adhesive: glue dots, dimensionals
non-stampin up!:
frame, skewer, batting, pins

I just know the perfect place for it....

..........on my cubicle wall at work!  lol  It holds a few of my favourite things... first of all-my son (and pride and joy), a picture of Manchester United (my boyfriend's favourite footie team)  and of course-my business card (because believe it or not-that's not work! I love my business) :)

now my son and I had a bonding moment this weekend...  He wanted to make his father a birthday card-so I let him have at my stuff...

I like what he did.  He was pleased with it too--hopefully his father reacted properly  LOL

he had fun making it :)  so it was a good afternoon in the igloo before he went back to his father's....

loss of pet sympathy

one of my co-workers (and avid supporters) asked me to make a sympathy-loss of pet card. Now I just knew the perfect stamp set for it-but I haven't gotten it yet, and a fellow demo nor my upline had it...so I went with this....

cardstock: basic black, natural, basic gray
dsp: gray stripe (retired hostess pattern pack)
embossing folder: polka dots
framelit: apothecary  (shadow shape traced on outside of framelit-and cut out)
punch: eyelet border
ink: basic black
stamp set (just retired)
ribbon: basic gray/basic black stripe (in current holiday mini)
brads: antique

I am pleased how it came together.

Thanks for looking :) feel free to leave comments.

a quiet night? HA!

I got an order at work for a get well card-no biggie (so I thought)  and I figured I'd pick up a quick dinner, and then I can get down to the igloo and make the card. (it's always the "one" card that I have issues with) lol....so much for those plans...

I called home to see what my boyfriend wanted for dinner, only to find out we had to go back out... he had sliced his finger at work and needed some things to bandage it up *don't worry..NO PICTURES!  YUCK!!!

so by the time that was all said and done, we picked up some dinner on the way home and ate, then got him all bandaged up (he was bandaged prior-but needed a re-do)  so about 7ish I get down to the igloo....

This was the first one...I used the colour coach and went with this combination.  I like the die cut and framelit.  I had traced around the outside of the framelit to give me a shadow for the die cut.

Then I did this one.  There is something about these Button Buddies Stamps!!!  I used another colour combination: marina mist, perfect plum and rose red.  I had the marina mist ribbon and card stock-so voila!  I decided to punch the corners of the whisper white card stock, just to give it a little something....I think it came out well.

Long weekend of FUN!

I had a nice long weekend-and I thought I'd get a lot done lol.  well they say...best laid plans.....

I got a delivery on Friday-so that is always fun.  I love getting that box from SU lol  new things to play with!!!

I didn't expect to do much on Friday, since I was taking it easy as I was going to see Adam Ant that night in Philly.  He's my all time favourite musician!  I haven't seen him since 92 and he STILL has it!  My feet and knees didn't like me later that night and all day Saturday-but it was well worth it!!

On Sunday I made the order of 9 Halloween bags for a customer at work.  I think she'll be pleased with them.  Instead of using the paper handles, I used the new black/gray ribbon offered in the Holiday Mini catalogue.  I think it gives it a little extra punch :)

I managed some time down in the igloo on Monday.  One of the new stamp sets I got was Button Buddies-and it's a real cute set (with or without the added buttons).  I made 2: a flower vase and piggy.  I think they came out cute!

And this morning at the crack of stupid, I just had to make another one... lol  I used a SU note card this time.  and my pink was blushing bride (retired in-colour)  I think it is cute!

A Totally-Tess birthday

I just love when I see retired sets and cute ideas-and I have to just have the set...lol

such was the case with this set.  I have seen some really cute ideas with this set, and looked for it for a while.  I found it last week, and since I had to make a fun birthday card for a friend/customer, I just knew I had to break this one out.

I stamped her on whisper white card stock.  Then I used the colour wonder crayons to colour her in.  I love the ease of the crayons, they blend so easily.  I cut her out and mounted her on melon mambo card stock.  Then I stamped the cupcake from the Keep Calm set and embossed the frosting in Melon Mambo.  I added a birthday banner and used some basic gems to accent it.  I really love how this came out!

Thanks for stopping by :)

ho ho hot cocoa

Yesterday I was having a play day at my friend Helen's house.  I was working on some things, and she brought up this idea for a gift box-which would be great to hold a set of Christmas and/or Thank you cards.  Then we took it up a notch.  She needed to work on something for a Christmas gift for a retreat she is going on next weekend.  With a collaborated effort, this is what we came up with...

I love this box!  It will hold some hot cocoa packets, and maybe even a little bag of marshmallows.  I think I need to make more lol

here is the first box we made using the Stampin up! Flocked acetate.  It's cute too.

A little playtime in the igloo...always a good thing

I managed some time in the igloo yesterday afternoon.  I worked on a few cards for a friend/co-worker.  This was the first time I used this stamp set-and I love it!

it is a hostess exclusive. bright and fun.
card stock: tempting turquoise, melon mambo and whisper white
ink:tempting turquoise, melon mambo, chocolate chip
embellishments:mini brads, tempting turquoise ribbon, can't see it-but will smell it-vanilla scented embossing powder on the cupcake icing

this stamp set is from the recent sale-a-bration.  the ONE set I didn't get LOL  and I really like it!

card stock: In colour-island indigo, pool party and whisper white
ink:pool party
embellishments: island indigo ruffled ribbon

thanks for looking :) I have some more coming

great weekend all around

On Sunday my son and I spent time in the igloo.  I had to work on a few orders, and he well...kept me on my toes playing with his new Arduino and programing different alarms LOL.

I had my Stampin UP! monthly team meeting, and we created some great projects:

this is such a cute card! simple and elegant.  The whisper white card stock is embossed and then the SU two way glue was applied all over it.  Then came the fun part...GLITTER!!  the ornament was stamped in midnight muse, and die cut using the matching framelit.  Attached to the card with dimensionals, and a ribbon tied in a bow and attached with a glue dot.  Simple, but so pretty!!

a great idea for those who like giving home made goodies as Christmas gifts.  The gusseted bags and a home made topper.  These bags will hold A LOT of goodies!!!

stepping up the little bags in the ghoulies kit with the SU! Spider web embossing folder, gives it a bit more flair.  You can fill these with a candy treat, Halloween pencils or little toy.  it's a really cute little treat bag.  I love the Ghoulish Googlies stamp set!!!  They just make me smile

Oh my! talk about recycling!  this was a great idea.  It used a cleaned, empty brad/button container.  A strip of coordinating paper was attached around the container.  A hole was punched at the bottom, and a dollop of hot glue was put on top of the hole, then a lollipop stick was set.  It'll set up quickly, then the front lid and back of the container were decorated with card stock and of course this cute googlie mummy.  he's so cute!  I love the new SU! ribbon for Halloweeen.  This would be great to fill with some mini candies, life savers, etc.

I was asked to make a congratulations card for a friend.  I love this new SU! two by two stamp.  And the colours in this old paper is just perfect for it!  I love water colouring the images.  I think she'll like it :)

I finally got my star framelits over the weekend...and I just had to make one of these guys!  I have a few ideas for them.  I put liquid glue on the back edge of it, and put it on a piece of whisper white card stock.  I can stamp on it-or just put a little note on it for a special friend who has been a "star"

these are fun to make as well...and so easy!  I suspect my igloo will be bursting with stars soon lol

thanks for stopping by :) I have much more coming that I'm working on... stay tuned :)

Birthday Weekend

My little boy turned 17 on Thursday.  (ok, so he's not so little-he's taller than me) lol

Last weekend when he was home, he had one of his reading books with him.  He shoved a post it note as a book mark.  I told him my idea to make him a book mark but 'manly' for him.  He said "ok cool" in a non-committed way...  then last night we were down in the igloo talking.  I showed him the tag die-and the stamp I was going to use.  He got a little more excited.

This morning before my monthly team meeting, I was down in the igloo, and I made this..

when I gave it to him this afternoon...he absolutely loved it!  And he saw there was a magnetic closure...even more excitement LOL.  oh the simple joys. :)  but knowing he'll use this-and appreciates it...well, what more could a mom want?

we went out for a nice lunch and had a lovely time.  While at the mall, we were in Radio Shack.  My son is taking an electronics course in high school. and he saw the same Arduino kit they use in class.  So we got it for him and some other bits to play with it.

I think he is having fun with it LOL

Getting my Mojo back...

the last few weekends, I just haven't felt my mojo.  I wanted to create, but the weather was hot-and it just gets too hot in the igloo to focus.  So on Saturday I was lucky to be able to get together with an old friend.  She came over to scrapbook, but I was planning on getting some cards done.  Pinterest has been my latest addiction, and I've seen so many ideas that I liked.  So I managed to organize a bit more-the igloo really needs an overhaul.  I want to get rid of the old stuff, to make room for the new.  My SU punches have multiplied lol.  So I went to Home Depot a while back and got these little wire baskets for my peg board.  I needed more of the large ones, so Friday night I got 2 more sets.  They're nice, they come with a small, medium and large.  So it offers some options for storing items.
I can store 10 of the new style Stampin UP! punches in a large bin, and 8 of the old style paddle punches in the large bin.  I used 2 of the small ones to hold the real small SU! punches.  I also used a large basket to hold the border punches I have as well.  Before Friday, I only had 2 of the large ones, this makes a big difference.  And I love that they're all at my fingertips.

To the left, you can see a bit of another small bin-it's holding my SU! stampin mist, two way glue, liquid glue and staz on cleaner (there is also a little container of ibuprofen)   I also have other brackets and hooks from when I did a lot of scrapbooking in place as well.  always need to keep my scissors within reach, and the colour coach is a help when trying to decide on colour combos.  Also to the far left are 2 sets of brackets to hold my 12" trimmers.

I'm always looking for new storage ideas-that will work for me.  I like having everything at my fingertips.

After my friend left, I just had to accomplish something!  (besides organization)  So I pulled out the kit from the card class last week.  I didn't get to make the Halloween stuff, so I started working on those:

In the kit was another batty favour bag.  I think these are too cute.  easy peasy to make as well.  And I think this would make a cute little gift of some candy in a cellophane bag tied with Halloween ribbon to leave on some co-worker's desk.

How cute is this?!  It's the new SU! Halloween DSP.  I love these ghoulish googlies stamp set!  They just make me smile.

Can you say...sugar rush?!  lol  But this idea was too stinking cute!  it used the SU! Petite Pocket die, and the new SU! Ghoulish Googlies stamp set.  This stamp set is only available in the current SU! Holiday Mini catalogue.
visit my site if you'd like to order it: www.crazypenguindesigns.stampinup.net

Isn't Frankie cute???  Such a simple card, but fun to make.  The SU! Ghoulish Googlies is just too much fun!  This used the SU! Spider web embossing folder as well.

Then I moved off from Halloween last night...and played with some ribbon.  I saw this idea on pinterest.  the funny thing is, I used to (and still) do this "weave" with ties on my sweaters/shirts etc...lol  who knew how it would look on ribbon? :)  I used the  SU! 1/8" taffeta ribbon in Certainly celery.  I then added a little bow in the SU! 1/8" whisper white taffeta ribbon.  I then attached the SU! Mini jingle bells from last year's Holiday Mini catalogue.

roll on to Sunday.... I was up early, as I didn't sleep well with this sinus pressure, but hey may as well take advantage of it.

another idea I saw on Pinterest.  I tweaked it up a little, by using some lucky limeade ribbon for the pumpkin stem and I finally used a stamp set I've had for about a year (at least) with some SU! Tangerine Tango embossing powder.  I love how it came out.  Simple, yet pretty.

then my favourite piece today... This stamp set is called "A Cherry On Top" it's a hostess set.  And it's too stinking cute!  I knew I needed it as soon as I saw it!  I stamped the dome lid on the SU! Window sheet in Staz on black.  While that was drying, I then stamped the image on the SU! Whisper white card stock.  I then carefully cut the dome out with a craft knife.  I mounted the window sheet behind the whisper white layer, lining up the black to appear from behind the cut out section.  I then took a piece of whisper white card stock, and stamped the cupcake image and put that behind the window sheet.  Then mounted it all to the front of the card base.  I stamped the greeting in melon mambo on melon mambo paper-for a tone on tone look, and cut it out using one of the apothecary accents framelits.  I then put it on the front of the card with SU! Dimensionals.  This card is awesome!

and now I want to see what else I can do today...so there may be more tomorrow lol

Thanks for stopping by :)
