A Totally-Tess birthday

I just love when I see retired sets and cute ideas-and I have to just have the set...lol

such was the case with this set.  I have seen some really cute ideas with this set, and looked for it for a while.  I found it last week, and since I had to make a fun birthday card for a friend/customer, I just knew I had to break this one out.

I stamped her on whisper white card stock.  Then I used the colour wonder crayons to colour her in.  I love the ease of the crayons, they blend so easily.  I cut her out and mounted her on melon mambo card stock.  Then I stamped the cupcake from the Keep Calm set and embossed the frosting in Melon Mambo.  I added a birthday banner and used some basic gems to accent it.  I really love how this came out!

Thanks for stopping by :)

ho ho hot cocoa

Yesterday I was having a play day at my friend Helen's house.  I was working on some things, and she brought up this idea for a gift box-which would be great to hold a set of Christmas and/or Thank you cards.  Then we took it up a notch.  She needed to work on something for a Christmas gift for a retreat she is going on next weekend.  With a collaborated effort, this is what we came up with...

I love this box!  It will hold some hot cocoa packets, and maybe even a little bag of marshmallows.  I think I need to make more lol

here is the first box we made using the Stampin up! Flocked acetate.  It's cute too.

great weekend all around

On Sunday my son and I spent time in the igloo.  I had to work on a few orders, and he well...kept me on my toes playing with his new Arduino and programing different alarms LOL.

I had my Stampin UP! monthly team meeting, and we created some great projects:

this is such a cute card! simple and elegant.  The whisper white card stock is embossed and then the SU two way glue was applied all over it.  Then came the fun part...GLITTER!!  the ornament was stamped in midnight muse, and die cut using the matching framelit.  Attached to the card with dimensionals, and a ribbon tied in a bow and attached with a glue dot.  Simple, but so pretty!!

a great idea for those who like giving home made goodies as Christmas gifts.  The gusseted bags and a home made topper.  These bags will hold A LOT of goodies!!!

stepping up the little bags in the ghoulies kit with the SU! Spider web embossing folder, gives it a bit more flair.  You can fill these with a candy treat, Halloween pencils or little toy.  it's a really cute little treat bag.  I love the Ghoulish Googlies stamp set!!!  They just make me smile

Oh my! talk about recycling!  this was a great idea.  It used a cleaned, empty brad/button container.  A strip of coordinating paper was attached around the container.  A hole was punched at the bottom, and a dollop of hot glue was put on top of the hole, then a lollipop stick was set.  It'll set up quickly, then the front lid and back of the container were decorated with card stock and of course this cute googlie mummy.  he's so cute!  I love the new SU! ribbon for Halloweeen.  This would be great to fill with some mini candies, life savers, etc.

I was asked to make a congratulations card for a friend.  I love this new SU! two by two stamp.  And the colours in this old paper is just perfect for it!  I love water colouring the images.  I think she'll like it :)

I finally got my star framelits over the weekend...and I just had to make one of these guys!  I have a few ideas for them.  I put liquid glue on the back edge of it, and put it on a piece of whisper white card stock.  I can stamp on it-or just put a little note on it for a special friend who has been a "star"

these are fun to make as well...and so easy!  I suspect my igloo will be bursting with stars soon lol

thanks for stopping by :) I have much more coming that I'm working on... stay tuned :)

Birthday Weekend

My little boy turned 17 on Thursday.  (ok, so he's not so little-he's taller than me) lol

Last weekend when he was home, he had one of his reading books with him.  He shoved a post it note as a book mark.  I told him my idea to make him a book mark but 'manly' for him.  He said "ok cool" in a non-committed way...  then last night we were down in the igloo talking.  I showed him the tag die-and the stamp I was going to use.  He got a little more excited.

This morning before my monthly team meeting, I was down in the igloo, and I made this..

when I gave it to him this afternoon...he absolutely loved it!  And he saw there was a magnetic closure...even more excitement LOL.  oh the simple joys. :)  but knowing he'll use this-and appreciates it...well, what more could a mom want?

we went out for a nice lunch and had a lovely time.  While at the mall, we were in Radio Shack.  My son is taking an electronics course in high school. and he saw the same Arduino kit they use in class.  So we got it for him and some other bits to play with it.

I think he is having fun with it LOL

Getting my Mojo back...

the last few weekends, I just haven't felt my mojo.  I wanted to create, but the weather was hot-and it just gets too hot in the igloo to focus.  So on Saturday I was lucky to be able to get together with an old friend.  She came over to scrapbook, but I was planning on getting some cards done.  Pinterest has been my latest addiction, and I've seen so many ideas that I liked.  So I managed to organize a bit more-the igloo really needs an overhaul.  I want to get rid of the old stuff, to make room for the new.  My SU punches have multiplied lol.  So I went to Home Depot a while back and got these little wire baskets for my peg board.  I needed more of the large ones, so Friday night I got 2 more sets.  They're nice, they come with a small, medium and large.  So it offers some options for storing items.
I can store 10 of the new style Stampin UP! punches in a large bin, and 8 of the old style paddle punches in the large bin.  I used 2 of the small ones to hold the real small SU! punches.  I also used a large basket to hold the border punches I have as well.  Before Friday, I only had 2 of the large ones, this makes a big difference.  And I love that they're all at my fingertips.

To the left, you can see a bit of another small bin-it's holding my SU! stampin mist, two way glue, liquid glue and staz on cleaner (there is also a little container of ibuprofen)   I also have other brackets and hooks from when I did a lot of scrapbooking in place as well.  always need to keep my scissors within reach, and the colour coach is a help when trying to decide on colour combos.  Also to the far left are 2 sets of brackets to hold my 12" trimmers.

I'm always looking for new storage ideas-that will work for me.  I like having everything at my fingertips.

After my friend left, I just had to accomplish something!  (besides organization)  So I pulled out the kit from the card class last week.  I didn't get to make the Halloween stuff, so I started working on those:

In the kit was another batty favour bag.  I think these are too cute.  easy peasy to make as well.  And I think this would make a cute little gift of some candy in a cellophane bag tied with Halloween ribbon to leave on some co-worker's desk.

How cute is this?!  It's the new SU! Halloween DSP.  I love these ghoulish googlies stamp set!  They just make me smile.

Can you say...sugar rush?!  lol  But this idea was too stinking cute!  it used the SU! Petite Pocket die, and the new SU! Ghoulish Googlies stamp set.  This stamp set is only available in the current SU! Holiday Mini catalogue.
visit my site if you'd like to order it: www.crazypenguindesigns.stampinup.net

Isn't Frankie cute???  Such a simple card, but fun to make.  The SU! Ghoulish Googlies is just too much fun!  This used the SU! Spider web embossing folder as well.

Then I moved off from Halloween last night...and played with some ribbon.  I saw this idea on pinterest.  the funny thing is, I used to (and still) do this "weave" with ties on my sweaters/shirts etc...lol  who knew how it would look on ribbon? :)  I used the  SU! 1/8" taffeta ribbon in Certainly celery.  I then added a little bow in the SU! 1/8" whisper white taffeta ribbon.  I then attached the SU! Mini jingle bells from last year's Holiday Mini catalogue.

roll on to Sunday.... I was up early, as I didn't sleep well with this sinus pressure, but hey may as well take advantage of it.

another idea I saw on Pinterest.  I tweaked it up a little, by using some lucky limeade ribbon for the pumpkin stem and I finally used a stamp set I've had for about a year (at least) with some SU! Tangerine Tango embossing powder.  I love how it came out.  Simple, yet pretty.

then my favourite piece today... This stamp set is called "A Cherry On Top" it's a hostess set.  And it's too stinking cute!  I knew I needed it as soon as I saw it!  I stamped the dome lid on the SU! Window sheet in Staz on black.  While that was drying, I then stamped the image on the SU! Whisper white card stock.  I then carefully cut the dome out with a craft knife.  I mounted the window sheet behind the whisper white layer, lining up the black to appear from behind the cut out section.  I then took a piece of whisper white card stock, and stamped the cupcake image and put that behind the window sheet.  Then mounted it all to the front of the card base.  I stamped the greeting in melon mambo on melon mambo paper-for a tone on tone look, and cut it out using one of the apothecary accents framelits.  I then put it on the front of the card with SU! Dimensionals.  This card is awesome!

and now I want to see what else I can do today...so there may be more tomorrow lol

Thanks for stopping by :)

Fall/Gratitude cards

I love Friday classes!  I did 2 of them, but only one is ready and done.

The Fall/Gratitude card set.

I never used the Day of Gratitude stamp set-but I really like it!

Betsy's Blooms/comfort cafe dsp

On Sunday I played in the igloo.  I was doing some organizing, and made a couple birthday cards. I love how this came out.

Everyday elegance DSP, pool party, lucky limeade, whisper white card stock, seam binding ribbon, everyday elegance brad, butterfly sizzlet with mini basic pearls.

on a side note, earlier this week...I found out my son will be one of 40 students in his AFJROTC at school to fly on a KC-10
He is so excited!  I am too for him lol.  It's flying missions-so they'll see it in action refeuling plans mid-air.  I am so hoping he'll be allowed to take pictures on his cellphone.  This is a great opportunity for him!

thanks for stopping by. :)

sweet treats birthday presents

I had to get something done this long holiday weekend.  My mojo has been suppressed lately, and I've been trying to get out of a funk.  I was determined to do something.

I saw this idea on pinterest, and since I had this paper just sitting, I knew it was a good way to use it up.

I made 8 of them, and they came together pretty quickly after I cut, punched, embossed and stamped it all.

thanks for stopping by. :)
