Frosted Finishes-look stunning as jewelry

I have seen various examples using the Stampin' Up! frosted finishes for jewelry pieces.  I had to give it a go myself.

And at Christmas time, you definitely want some bling!

The first set, I did Thanksgiving morning before we went out to a friend's house for dinner...

I made 3 pairs of earrings and a bracelet.  I did them in all sterling silver.

they were such a hit, I was contacted to make this:
All done in sterling silver.  I hope she likes it.  I love how they came out!

Holiday event

Last Saturday I had my first Holiday event.  It was a nice event, and a lot of fun.  We made 4 cards (2 of each) and 2 gift card holders (2 each) and a 3D project.

Here are the cards we made: I love the triple time stamping!  We used Snowflake Soiree which was a carry over from the catalog last year.  We stamped it in Soft Sky and Smoky Slate (both new colours this year) on whisper white card stock and used Soft Sky card stock.  Adding the finishing touch was the frosted finishes, giving it a bit of bling.

a new style that seems to be growing in popularity is the file folder card.  It uses the new Stampin up Envelope punch board.  They look so cute!  we used Island Indigo card stock, the DSP from the Winter Frost paper stack.  We added the Soft Sky seam binding ribbon.

Another stamp that was in the carry over from last year, available online is called Evergreen.  I love the 2 step look on this card.  I stamped the tree in Always Artichoke then inked the layer stamp in the frost white shimmer paint (on the clearance rack).  I punched a star out of the silver glimmer paper and added some taffeta ribbon and ribbon slide (also from the clearance rack)

I love the window shaker card!  I first saw this when Stampin Up! showed it in the opening video for convention 2013.  It  is a standard size card.  and the shaker window uses whisper white card stock and a piece of window sheet.  The images stamped are the greeting from More Merry Messages (another carry over from last year) and the single star stamp.  I love that stamp-there are other possibilities with it.  It also uses the hot trend of washi tape.  I added some buttons (retired brights, and new brights) and some bling with the glimmer paper in red and gold and a basic gem in the center of the star.  It's a cute little fun card.

I love these gift card holders!  the top note die is really cute.  There are multi layers, but it comes together rather nicely.  The colours of card stock used are whisper white, gumball green and cherry cobbler.  The DSP is from the seasons of style paper stack (in the new holiday catalog).  I used cherry cobbler seam binding ribbon and perfect polka dot embossing folder.  And the stamp set Very Merry Tags in the holiday catalog.  On the inside you can slide in a gift card or cash.

This gift card holder is super cute!  It uses the Stampin' Up! pop n cuts base.  I layered some dsp (again from the season of style paper stack) and it just gives it a bit of colour.  I also used the single stamp for the tag and the  1/4" silver ribbon from the holiday catalog.  On the inside there is room for a gift card and sentiment as well.

This is too stinking cute!  We used the season of style paper stack and cut strips and curled them with a bone folder.  Then applied them to a Styrofoam wreath.  I love how it came out. I did add a topper to it.  I used the single star stamp and greeting from more merry messages.  It will look nice in the igloo.

Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you visit again.

Joyful Christmas Wishes...

here is the other card we made at our team meeting.  I love this poinsettia stamp set...and I think it is a must have stamp!   I just think the cherry cobbler and old olive colour combo just shouts CHRISTMAS!  such a pretty card.

thanks for stopping by and having a look around.

A little Christmas fun...

I made a few Christmas cards this past Saturday at a team meeting.  I just love when I don't think I'm really going to get into a stamp set, and then I see something really cute with it.  This is the case with the Stampin' Up! Color me Christmas set...

I like how the water colour look came out.  I really do like my SU! aqua painter!  For some reason I can master that better than the blender pens.  Perhaps I'll have to work on those as well.  In the mean time-I'll stick with my aqua painter :)  I also added some SU! Dazzling Diamonds on the trim of the Santa hat, cuffs, and trim on his suit.

This little guy is really cute!  I love using the SU! thinlet card dies.  They make such cute cards. And of course you can't go wrong with a little bling with the SU! silver paper.  I can't wait to make more Christmas cards :)

thanks for stopping by and having a look!  Until next time...
get your stamp on :)

it's been a little quiet...

Hi folks.  I realize I've been a little quiet on here, but there has been some great things brewing!

first of all... if you're looking to get a jump in getting started on making cards...have I (and by that I mean Stampin' Up!) got something for you!!!

Why go to the store when a birthday, graduation, wedding or even a time for expressing gratitude comes up? The Everyday Occasions Card making Kit puts cards for all of those events right at your fingertips, and best of all, they'll be handmade! The kit contains everything necessary (minus adhesive and scissors) to create 20 beautiful cards for almost any occasion, and it comes in a beautiful box to store them in.

I am really excited about this.  Because it is a nice answer for those just starting out to make the cards-and have them on hand.  The tips and idea booklet is something you can adapt to make more-when you want to expand out.  It just breaks it down so it's not overwhelming.

another new thing that Stampin' Up! has been expanding with is the photopolymer stamp sets...and now there is a new one called- Bite Me

these photopolymer stamp sets are really cute and durable.  I love that you can "see" through them to stamp.

ok...I'm going to leave you with that-for now... there IS more!!!  visit my site www.crazypenguindesigns.stampinup.com to see more!

Stampin' Up! Thinlits Card Dies

A great new product is now available to order.  This was revealed at Convention last month.  I think these will really make your creativity flow!  There are 2 styles available.  Label Thinlet set (133479) and Circle Thinlet set (133480)
These new card dies come with extra die pieces that have versatile designs, so you can use them on other projects, not just flip cards. (The Circle Card Thinlits Die comes with 10 total pieces; the Label Card Thinlits Die comes with nine total pieces.)

The main shape in the cards (circle and label) can work with a lot of our stamp images so you can create tons of different kinds of cards using many different stamp sets. Here are just a few suggestions to get you started:

Label Card Thinlits Die (item 133479):
  • Happy Day Stamp Set (item 130294 W item 130297 C)
Circle Card Thinlits Die (item 133480):
  • Worth the Wait Stamp (item 131094 W)
  • Five-Way Flower Stamp (item 131088 W)
Both card dies pair well with:
  • Oh, Hello Stamp Set (item 131931 W item 130733 C)
  • Yippee-Skippee! Stamp Set (item 131341 W item 131344 C)
  • Really Good Greetings Stamp Set (item 130330 W item 130333 C)
  • Regarding Dahlias Stamp Set (item 130324 W item 130327 C)
  • These dies also work well with our new magnetic platform (item 130658) so you can place the dies exactly where you want them

My first Stampin' Up! Event

Finally after being a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator for about a year and a half now, I finally organized and held my first New Catalog Kick Off Weekend!  I put together 5 cards and a 3D project for my guests to make.  For them, I made a cute little goody bag which held a little note pad I altered, mini gel pen, a 3x3 thank you note, and a little altered container holding embellishments they'd use for their cards and some extra gifts.  I also added a doily in there for 2 of their cards they'd be making.

Here is the goody bag, front and side.  They got an altered soda pop top on a ball chain for their scissors.  Now at a class/crop etc, their scissors will stand out!

Here are the note pads that were altered and the little Thank You note I made for them.

Happy Birthday Card:
This card used Island Indigo and Whisper White Card Stock.  I used the Venetian Romance DSP, and Flowershop stamp set/punch (Available as a bundle at a 15% discount: W 132727 C 132726).  Ink used: Crisp Cantaloupe, Tangerine Tango and Island Indigo.  The Sentiment was from the hostess set: Express Yourself.  and the embellishments were: island indigo ribbon (retired), Doily, Large Pearl Basic Jewels, and Very Vintage Designer Buttons.

This card featured the new In Colours:
Baked Brown Sugar, Crisp Cantaloupe, Coastal Cabana, Pistachio Pudding, and Strawberry Slush.  I love this new set.
We used Baked Brown Sugar and whisper white card stock.  The ink colours are all of the new In Colours. The stamp set was Six Sided Sampler, which is also available as a bundle which includes the stamp set and punch at a 15% discount: (W 132725 C 132724)

What a cute Friendship card. I love this sentiment as well.  This card featured the new (returning) colour: Bermuda Bay. The sentiment was from the Feel Goods. I also used the Secret Garden stamp set and framelits, as well as the Oval framelits.
Card stock used: Bermuda Bay and whisper white.  Ink: Bermuda Bay, Baked Brown Sugar, Crisp Cantaloupe, and Garden Green.

*the cards made at the event used Bermuda Bay DSP for the larger oval*

This is one of my favourite cards of the bunch!  It used the Mosaic Madness bundle.  (W 132734 C 132733 includes stamp set and punch)  Card stock used: Pistachio Pudding and Whisper White.  Ink used: Crisp Cantaloupe and Pistachio Pudding.  The Sentiment used was from Really Good Greetings.  The Mosaic Embossing Folder and new Pistachio Pudding 3/8" Stretch Ruffle Ribbon (LOVE THESE!) were also used.

Who couldn't use more Happy Birthday cards?  This one was really quick and easy.  We used the new In Colours: Coastal Cabana and Baked Brown Sugar card Stock as well as whisper white.
The stamp is from the Label Love bundle (W 132723 C 132722) Another set I love!  The stamp was inked with the new 2013-2015 in colour markers (Baked Brown Sugar for the words and Coastal Cabana for the frame)  The border image was from the Mosaic Madness stamp set.  We added 1/2 a doily and a button (from the retired sale a bration button set)  This can easily be made into a masculine card as well.

ahhh now the 3D project:
We made a pocket tissue holder.
we used the new Smoky Slate card stock and whisper white.  I love the new Eastern Elegance Designer Series Paper!  The colours are beautiful.  We used smoky slate ink for the sentiment (another stamp from the Really Good Greetings)  and more of the 3/8 Stretch ruffle ribobn... in coastal cabana.  I love that ribbon!  This turned out too stinking cute!

thank you for stopping by! I can't wait to have my next event... featuring Christmas Cards!  The Holiday Catalog will be out soon (I can't call it a mini-as it's big) LOL

Memorable May

This month has been quite amazing.  I met my friend Michelle aka Doodlebird Designs this month.  Doesn't sound like a huge deal, right?  well... It is. Considering she is from the UK, and it was my cards that inspired her to sign up as a Stampin' Up! demonstrator.  She has totally excelled!  I am so proud of her

we were so excited to finally meet!  Let the week begin!!!!

Michelle and her daughter Lorrina totally spoiled me!  I received so many treats and gifts from the UK.  They will all be special to me.

Wednesday my friend Amy came over and joined us in the Igloo.  We had a lot of fun.  Amy worked on some cards for an event.  It was a lovely afternoon.

Thursday was SHOPPING!  I took Michelle to the Philadelphia Premium Outlets.  She loved it.  And got some great deals.

we then stopped at Haagen Das for some ice cream.  oh yum!

Friday was such a gorgeous day!  We went to the Philadelphia zoo.  This was something Michelle wanted to see. And it turned out to be such a beautiful day!  I totally enjoyed just documenting her time there.  She had a great time!

Feeding the lorikeets was a lot of fun!  Even if Michelle didn't get to feed the red one!  We ended up doing the feeding twice.  It was cute to see them.

Michelle got her first taste of a Philly cheese steak.  it was 'not bad'  in her opinion.  A bit messy tho. lol

After the zoo, we went to the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Rocky steps.

They moved the Rocky statue to the side of the museum, so we took Michelle's picture with it.
Michelle's first visit to Applebee's   And she coloured in the kid's menu.  Oh the amusement.

Saturday we went to Diane's pet store...for the birds!  It was quite funny watching this.

We took Michelle to Walmart...something they don't have over in the UK.

When Michelle first saw this on the shelf...she thought it said... Poops.  We got a chuckle out of that.

Igloo time!  Various pictures playing (creating) in the igloo and learning some new techniques.

some techniques learned:  Triple Time Stamping, Masking, shrinky dinks.  We also made swaps for next month, and covered some journals.

I made Michelle a special little treat dish.  One side was for Doodlebird Designs, and the other side was for Crazy Penguin Designs.

That's the week so far.... sadly (for me) she leaves tomorrow night :(  but it has been a fun week!!!  next time--- it's my turn to go over there!!!  start saving my pennies....
