Sympathy cards are always the hardest for me to design. I usually get an idea in my head, then get a mental block when I go to make them. Last night was no exception.
Yesterday I was asked by my company's social committee to make a big enough sympathy card as our floor manager's MIL passed away. She's been one of my biggest supporters in my card making business, so of course I would make a card for her!
Then my former manager asked me if I'd make one for her too-separate from the social committee one. So now I have to make 2 different sympathy cards... I had a few ideas in my head...but like I said-mental block when going to make them.
Therein lies the other problem-not knowing a person's faith denomination also makes it hard. So I have to go totally neutral. Not having many 'religious' stamps, can make it hard too. I went through every stamp set I own, to look and see what would be appropriate.
I love the simplicity of this one. It's bright, but not too bright. After I was done, I saw one of the little butterflies I had punched out the other day on my table, and just added it to the card at the last minute. I like how this turned out. I used some Certainly Celery ribbon I had bought a while back. It just added a little something to it.
this is the one I made for my former manager. I found this background stamp I got a while back-and never used yet. I knew it would be perfect as a tone on tone image. I added a little seam binding ribbon just for texture, and the apothecary framelit worked well with the sentiment. I just gave it a little ink on the edges for dimension. I think she'll be pleased with it.

In colour birthday
I decided to work on some quick and easy cards. I used SU in colours: lucky limeade, wisteria wonder, calypso coral, island indigo, pool party and whisper white card stock
I stamped a birthday image and punched it out and 'matted' the punch in the matching in colour

Calypso coral birthday
I love making things for my friends for their birthday or any time :)
I made this card and cake for a co-worker/friend. she likes coral, and I figured the purples would co-ordinate well with it.
I had the 'negative' from the SU perfectly preserved jar framelit punched, and used that to create a blue-ish glass jar. I also used a piece of the SU window sheet to go in between the blue sponged area and the top white sheet. I had the butterflies flying up out of it in calypso coral, wisteria wonder, and concord crush card stock and dsp. I like how it came out.
I went for a different look with this cake. I used SU calypso coral card stock and DSP. I also punched out a doily punch and cut it in half to layer on the cake side. then I added small butterflies in wisteria wonder and concord crush on the side and top. I used the SU hat pin and bitty banners with some organdy ribbon to top it off.

Sometimes it's hard to say goodbye.... Friday will be the last day for 2 fellow co-workers. One came back as a summer hire while she was out of school. The other I found out just the day before that he was leaving. I was asked to make them each a good luck card...
this one I thought was really cute. I saw something similar, and did a 'sketch' for it while waiting at my son's dr appt (had to keep from being bored waiting) lol. and then I went home and worked on it. I am pleased how it came out. I do love those embossing folders! I need to use them more often.
the butterflies are from SU's Kindness matters stamp set-and I stamped it in Soft Suede, then used blushing bride and regal rose to water colour the butterflies. The pattern dsp is from an old hostess pack-blushing bride. I added some basic gems and some ribbon to add some dimension. I am really pleased how it came out!
this one I tried making more "masculine" and I think it worked. I used the neutrals, soft suede, crumb cake, and some DSP I had (retired) and added diamond shaped brads (retired) and chocolate chip ribbon. I used the (retired) tea stain ink on the whisper white card stock, and stamped "good luck" in early espresso.

Last week I had borrowed a stamp set that I didn't think I'd be too keen on...was I wrong! I have seen so many neat cards with this set, I will have to get it! I was playing around with it and I made two of these cards. I love the inked edges, and dark blue. I also like the added antique brad and baker's twine-carries the nautical theme well.

Halloween Holiday Mini creations
Saturday was a nice day to create! I was at my team meeting and these are the fun things we made! I think they're totally awesome!
made from the SU favour die. I love the owl punch (usually make penguins with it) lol but it has so many uses! and I just love the googly eyes!!! this would be cute as a treat for friends/co-workers with some candy in a little cello bag tied with the SU Halloween ribbon
I now NEED to get this SU purse die! I've seen some cute things with it...but OMG these are too stinking cute!!! They'd make nice little treats for some co-workers. You can fit some treats in it and even display it on your desk.
OMG this card!!! It's stamped in versamark, and then heat embossed in Tangerine Tango. I love it!
That's about all I managed this weekend, as it's still a bit warm in the igloo... Roll on cooler weather!!!!

My friend Meg at work needed another wedding card for this weekend. so we coordinated it again with the wedding colours that she and her hubby are wearing.
I love the simplicity yet elegance of this card!
I can't wait for the weekend...I have a team meeting, so hoping to come back with some more ideas and play in my igloo (hoping for some cooler weather soon) lol

Masculine Madness
Last night I went to my upline's house and we did a class on Masculine Madness cards. I sometimes have a hard time thinking of something "manly" lol. tell me to make a feminine card-and I'm all over it lol. but tell me you need a masculine one...and I'm sitting in the igloo looking for ideas.
this one is one of my favourites! I love the colours and antiquing of the paper by scraping the edges with a pair of scissors and inking it. I had to decorate the envelope as well to coordinate it. I think it really makes it pop! oh and on the back flap-the watch is stamped as well...it's just too awesome!!!
This nautical set is quickly becoming one I have to add to my collection! This set is awesome! From the multi-layers on the front of the card to the coordinating stamping inside the card and the added coordination on the envelope!
This one is cool. I like the water colour effect on the hand. The sample showed it coloured in with SU stampin write markers, but I wanted a more subtle effect. The texture of the chevron embossing folder and torn paper, as well as the coordinating buttons, really works. I had to use the hand stamp on the envelope! it's at the level where the recipient's name will appear... just too cool.
this one is cool. I have the numbers stamped out to personalize it for the recipient. I liked stamping the back of the envelope with the label stamp as well. It just gives it a little something.
oh and my night was made cause my "keep calm" stamp set arrived!!! I can not wait to play with that!
thanks for looking, and keep on stamping!

Sunday was just too stinking hot to go down into the igloo....really wanting to put in a window AC unit down there...but now waiting till it's off season, to get one on clearance.
I did manage to get down there for a couple hours Sunday night... my friend (who is having her bday on Monday) asked me to make a few cards for her, so as one of my best customers...I couldn't resist.
I love the little touches on each of them. I am loving the new SU fabric as well!!
I can't wait to play some more this coming weekend lol...if I'm lucky, I'll get down there during the week, but knowing the crazy schedule I have coming...I doubt it...

TGIF! I have a lot that I want to do this weekend...first of all, getting my car inspected and a few repairs. It's never cheap...UGH. But it has to get done. Then later tonight I will pack a few things to go play at a friend's house and make cards!!! I am looking forward to that! She just got back from the SU! Convention, and I can't wait to play with some of the new stamps she got!! I have a few ideas on what I want to work on, (which is a first) so I hopefully won't pack anything unnecessary lol. I hope to have loads of pictures to put up here on Sunday or Monday morning :)
**note to self...next time I am at my Ford dealer...bring a few things to work on-they installed a little wall table for laptop users... ;) I could assemble some cards here LOL
