A couple weeks ago, I received a special package in the mail. First was a set of Staedtler triplus fineliner pens. A friend saw I had them on my "addiction" board on pinterest and sent them to me as a happy mail surprise (which it was!) There was a message on the gift card stating a little crew is on the way in July... well what a surprise when I got it! It was another item on my Penguins pinterest board-- a package of penguin paper clips! They are so darling! I just knew I had to make a card with them- and send it to someone special.
It's a simple card. Actually it's a shaker card. I stamped the "water" using the Jars of love bundle from Stampin' Up!. I then sliced the top of it. I slipped 2 of the penguin clips onto the paper. I added some dazzling diamonds in it so it 'sparkled' like water. Inside I wrote my little message then added: Penguin friends are FOREVER friends. And it's true. She and I have been friends for a long time now. I think she's going to like this card.

Sail Away
The hubby of one of my dearest friends has a birthday coming up. He loves sailing, and what better way to celebrate his birthday than with a sail boat birthday card.
this one I am very pleased with. I used 2 stamps. Stampin' Up! Sail Away (which is retired) and an image from the current catalog- Timeless Textures. The effect it gives is absolutely awesome.
It worked well as I inked the image, then I stamped off one time onto my grid paper, then stamped on the white card stock. I did this every time, and it gave a lighter effect, and created depth when I overlapped the stamp. I masked off the sails, so I could stamp in between them. Then I added wink of stella on the water only. It's across all of it, but the flash of my camera caught it as a highlight, which was a nice effect.
I think I'm going to have to make more of these cards. And try this effect for the sky as well for other images (motorcycle, truck, scenery, etc)

let's have a cuppa
it's funny, I am not an avid tea drinker. And I detest coffee..but there's something about a nice mug or cup to hold your favourite drink. Thankfully I have a few friends who do enjoy a nice cuppa, so using this set from Stampin' Up will get lots of use.
this one will make you have inky fingers lol, but hey, it's worth it (and it does wash off). I love the richness of the colours on this card. I made this as a thank you for someone. I think they'll appreciate it as well.
Thanks for looking.

A special Birthday
To say I love to make cards would be an understatement. I love my weekends that I can spend in my Igloo.
The new igloo is still being worked on. I will have to post pics later of the new Igloo. But in the meantime, here is something I worked on for someone special. Their birthday was earlier this month, and they like penguins- almost as much as I do.
They also like the colour red, so I had to use as much as possible- and make it festive. I love this penguin stamp and framelit set. It is one of my favourites from the SU Holiday catalog last year, that was carried over- I am so glad :) I know I will get a lot of use out of it.

It's a party
It's always a good time when I get time in the Igloo. Today was a day of creating. I worked on my team swaps for the meeting next week. The theme was anything new...so I combined a few things.
I used the new In-colours: Sweet sugarplum, peekaboo peach and dapper denim with some old favourites: pool party and tempting turquoise. I love the new cupcake stamp. It's a triple stamp set for the icing and bottom. it's made easier to do since it's a photopolymer stamp. I also used the new banners for you bundle. And to finish it off, some wink of stella on the icing.
I am quite pleased with these. I may add some more confetti to them. When you have a party, you can't have too much confetti, right?

playtime in the new igloo
This was the first weekend I got a little play time in my new igloo. It's not finished yet, because the floor has to come up, so I haven't unpacked a lot in there. But a dear friend came over on Saturday, and we had some fun creating.
this card was cased from a fellow demonstrator, Patty Bennett. I've admired a lot of her ideas. Imagine my surprise when I woke this morning after posting it on a few boards that she commented on it *smile* It made my day. I didn't have the birthday stamp she used, so I substituted with this one, and she liked it and commented on it.
And since not everything is unpacked, I only had my pearls and gems available, so used pearls in the middle instead of the embellishments she used. It's a really pretty card using the new in-colours and pool party.
Thanks for looking and happy stampin :)

It's the most wonderful time...of the year!
That's right! It's June, and you know what that means?! It's NEW CATALOG time!!!
All I can say is WOW! Stampin' Up! has come out with a GREAT catalog this year. The new in-colours are luscious! So many new stamps and tools and bundles oh my!!
In May, as a demo, we got to do a pre-order, and I got a couple things...but one of my favourites that I was able to order was the swirly bird bundle.

In May, as a demo, we got to do a pre-order, and I got a couple things...but one of my favourites that I was able to order was the swirly bird bundle.
This was something I made for a friend who had shoulder surgery. A fun and funky chick deserves a fun and funky card. I used the waves from the swirls and scribbles framelits and cut them out 3 times in each of the new in-colours and 5 times in black. (I wanted to make sure I had enough for any alterations). I laid out the black waves first using the tombow liquid adhesive. Then I just started adding the colour strips. I was quite pleased how it turned out. It is time consuming, but it was worth it for my friend, and when she got the card, she was just in awe :)
I am really excited for some of the other things I've ordered. And I can't wait to play with them in the new igloo :)
Thanks for stopping by. Happy stampin'
